7573 Locked out
Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 7573 laptop, for my son. He spent a month away visiting relatives, and is now back and when he turned on his laptop he can't get in.
His Pin does not work, his password does not work, and facial recognition does not work. How can we fix this, all his art is on this Laptop. He does not remember is password or email used when he set it up. His pin, he says is the only pin he used, and he did have it wrote down, but it's not working. He used to just get on with facial recognition, but that isn't working.
I saw an article about going into the bios and resetting the password, but is that only for the bios, and you would have to get this password from Dell? Would the same new password get him into this computer?
If not is there a way to reset it, or reinstall windows and still keep everything he has on the hard drive?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. TY

If he set the notebook up using his MS Account, he should log onto his MS Account on any computer if he is successful. Then go back to the notebook and use the same User name/email address and password.
Windows Hello is marginal at best, I use it for convenience, but User name and password are always reliable. on the start screen he should have to option to change log in method, he should change it to password to get back in. then reset up Windows Hello, but always have the User Name and password ready for Hello failures

My Google "recover data from a password locked hard drive"brings up several options for recovering data from a password locked hard drive. I have never tried any of these methods and have no idea if any of them work.
Goggle "recover data from a password locked windows 10" also brings up several options for recovery, again I have never tried any of these and have no idea if any works or not.
Here is a tutorial on the subject, this is a very reliable Windows 10 Forum https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/14699-reset-password-user-account-windows-10-a.html
