Black Screen when switching user Windows 10
Good morning,
I have an Inspiron 15 3000 which I purchased in October 2020.
Sometimes when I switch from my main user account to the secondary one, I get a back screen and am unable to do anything with the laptop other than reboot it manually. This is starting to happen more frequently and I am getting concerned there is a fault somewhere. The last couple of times, windows has booted up in recovery mode and I have had to select 'Restart PC'.
Bearing in mind that I have limited understanding of technospeak, any advice/suggestions would be gratefully recieved (as well as detailed instructions on how to find any additional information you may need to help). Many thanks.

That should be sufficient. Next issue: is the system running a spinning hard drive or a native SSD? If the former, you may have to wait for swap to disc before the next user can log in, and a spinning hard drive is going to be quite slow.

Hello,
Apologies for delay in reply - work got in the way. I wouldn't know how to find that information. Can you advise where to look? Thanks

I would suggest you to boot your computer in clean boot state in order to identify if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.
How to Perform a Clean Boot? (Applies to Windows 10)
Note: Once you are done with the troubleshooting, perform the steps in "How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot" to reset computer as usual.
I would also suggest you to refer to the steps given by Sharath Srinivasa in this link under the section "Black screen under sign in and you can see the cursor", and check if it helps.
Do get back to us with the result. We will be glad to help if you need further assistance.
