Dell Inspiron 3 (7352) 2 in 1

I recently needed to replace my charging port and charger. The port replacement is Dell but the charger is an off brand. My battery charged to 80%  with these new replacements then stopped and then battery wouldn't charge at all. The laptop still worked as long as it was plugged in though. Now the Dell logo will come on and then the screen goes blank and appears to freeze (I'm assuming because the keyboard lights can't be turned off) I have tried pressing F-2, F-8, power cycling it several times when the Dell logo appears to do a system restart. I haven't tried removing the battery because I'm not comfortable taking the back off again. 

I need my laptop to start working from home and I'm worried.If anyone knows what I should do (or if I should just take it to a professional) I would really appreciate it.
