Complain

Question

I bought a Inspiron 145000 (5480-A40X) in Brazil on 23rd August 2019, moved to UK to study and the laptop stopped working today (13th January 2020). Initially it couldn’t find the wifi network, then it got very slow, wouldn’t turn off or reset and now is locked. It just stopped working. It was supposed to be a great machine, but it stopped working LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS I BOUGHT IT. I called the assistance here in UK, and they said I need to transfer my warrant so they can send it to Germany, since in the UK they don’t have the pieces to fix it. I asked for the warranty transfer, and it says it is going to take 15 working days, because it is international!  Considering how long it must take to send it eventually to Germany and then back to me, I am gonna stay without a computer likely for more than one month (or longer than that). How can a computer stop working like this, out of the blue? And how can so many inconveniences be created to a client? I need the laptop to study and to do my assessments for my Master. I bought it because I thought I could trust Dell, but it is obviously not the case. Even if it is fixed, how can I trust this machine will not have other problems in the future? Clearly it came with serious problems from factory.

This is a user to user forum. Maybe complain in Customer Care, although this is a US forum. Your standard one year warranty does not apply if you change countries. Only Premium on Site warranties can be transferred to a diff approved country. Check with support in your current country. Save yourself the hassle and take it to a local computer repairman you can trust.
