I have a DELL 3390 laptop. Setting the timeout in the BIOS works just once. When I shutdown the computer and start it again the timeout goes back to 10 seconds. I have to go through the BIOS every time I start the computer. I do agree that the default 10 seconds timeout is very annoying. A longer default should be set at least when the laptop is plugged in to the power outlet.
