Crash while in Modern Standby
As I have seen reports about crashs during sleep (most likely 'modern standby') in several series and there have been hints towards joining this in a central thread, I would like to, but I have to attach this to a Location below Laptops.
The reports I have read have in common that they include a Dell Laptop and the crash happens while the system is in sleep / modern standby. You will realize that you have to log in and all the previously open windows (and the data) are gone. In the event log you will find an abnormal shutdown. On my system (Inspiron 5405) I also see that the WLAN-module isn't visible any more until I shut down and start my laptop anew.
All the rest seems very varible like Laptop series (from Inspiron to Precision), CPU series (AMD and Intel) and operating system (Win 10 and Win 11).
Reported steps to solve the problem vary from install all updates from Dell, install new firmware/BIOS from Dell, turn off standby for device XYZ, run Dell SupportAssist, to it's a hardware issue any will require you to send the laptop to Dell.
Here is a small number of reports:
https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron/Inspiron-Dell-5585-Crashes-In-Standby/m-p/7747411
Feel free to add a link to your issue if the key words are "Crash" and "Modern Standby" / "Sleep" (plus XYZ)

@DELL-Cares promised that engineers are analyzing the crashing while on sleep/modern standby. I will keep you updated under my post.

I had serious issues also but all (or let me say the most) become fixed with the newest Nvidia driver (not the Dell version) and Windows 10. Tried 11 but it behave like you described even the newest drivers are installed also.
Modern standby is a good idea but not well implemented…

Run CMD as admin and Use these 2 commands one by one
powercfg /setdcvalueindex scheme_current sub_none F15576E8-98B7-4186-B944-EAFA664402D9 0
powercfg /setacvalueindex scheme_current sub_none F15576E8-98B7-4186-B944-EAFA664402D9 0
Now in order to validate commands ran properly
Powercfg -a
Output of the command should say Network Disconnected

Any chance you could get us the output of a powercfg /a command in the command prompt?
Since many folks do try to modify the behavior of a modern standby system, have you ever made any such changes?
Have you ever done a sleep study report on that system?
I found an updated link about modern standby. My system is several years old so changes may have occurred during that time.

This was an ongoing issue with XPS 9700 and After spending over 3 months with Dell 's Level 3 team I was given this workaround.
Meanwhile the issue was fixed for my Model through SATA driver update

I understand that your PC is crashing when it is going to Modern Standby state, and I certainly appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.
Based on the dump files that you have shared, the PC is crashing due to memory_corruption. There are chances that the RAM sticks on the PC is at fault. Since you have already ran a memory test by Lenovo, I would suggest you to test the RAM using Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check for faults.
Press Windows + S keys together to open Search.
Now type Memory and click on Windows Memory Diagnostic.
Click on Restart now and check for problems.
Follow the on screen instructions

Hi MajZoa, thank you - my issue is not yet resolved... I was now asked to install Win10 again, this time with "secure boot" disabled but still UEFI enabled. But again same crash...

Thank you for your info. At least in my Inspiron 5405 is only an AMD Ryzen 5 - no dedicaded GPU or fancy stuff. But good to know that the NVidia drivers could work better - will receive another laptop for office with NVidia GPU (required for some Kinect related software)..

Hi Wolfram, thank you for this hint. We had tested the memory with (1) SupportAssist, (2) the Dell "Onboard" memory check (during startup) and (3) Windows Memory Diagnostic. But none finds a fault in the memory. As the problem does not arise while the machine is busy (like calculations, programming, perform tests...) I will keep the memory-fault option in mind but would test other things for now.

Hi XPS_Man, thank you the "powercfg /sleepstudy" - I did so during the previous week and also provided this to Dell support. As I didn't install anything else but Microsoft Windows (10 and 11, one after the other), Microsoft updates and Dell drivers - I would expect that they are able to produce a laptop SERIES (not just one laptop) that should run without errors at this software level.
I also saw in another report on the Dell Community forum, that they "disallow the computer to turn off a device to safe power" (you will find this option in the device manager for specific drivers). I would expect this to drain the battery and while I understand the idea to prevent crashs.
So yes - sleepstudy was checked and at least I couldn't see the reason for the crash.
I can provide the output here... is there an upload for the forum available?

Hi XPS_Man - I'm running into this freezing issue just now after latest updates, and believe it might be the modern standby. What exactly do these two commands do? I can tell from docs they alter the scheme, but before I run them and test, I'd like to understand what is happening, not least of which so I can reverse it if it doesn't work or makes things worse. Thanks!

I have had the laptop in the Dell workshop two times now. First time the mainboard was replaced... and on it's way back to me the laptop crashed - and restarted while it was closed and nicely packed. After I reported the missing success of the repair, I got the message, that it is software related and I could buy software support, but I would be refunded if it wasn't software related... Ok, so it is the Windows Installation with the recommended drivers from Dell.
After a number of further tests, the system was a second time at Dell workshop, this time the WLAN/Bluetooth module (Qualcomm) was replaced and the original Dell installation replaced my "Win 10 Media-Creator"-thumbstick install - but after I got the laptop back and connected it to my WLAN it updated the drivers and the system and it still crashes.
After I got the offer for a replacement (no conditions specified) - I checked the details from the laptop with hwinfo (search for the website):
The NVMe report counts 197 operating hours and 73 crashes. So the laptop crashed on average every 162 minutes. But the last 3 months the system was only in repair mode, i.e. I installed windows several times (as I was asked for) and spent many hours just for tests.
Finally: this could have been a real nice laptop - but the specific device in my hands is horrible and cost me plenty of time. Dell community support is kind and somehow helpful, but couldn't solve the issue in my case.
