I have checked the specs. on that system and it does not give the exact sound configuration. The drivers page does show both Cirrus and Realtek, with the Waves utility needed for Realtek.
You probably used your service tag, and don't make it public, to see what drivers you needed? The Device Manager does show Cirrus on the Sound, video section?
All I might suggest is something on the system needs an additional driver.
The website DELL UPDATE works as it should: 5420 service tag filter: only Cirrus. Realtek is incompatible with my system.
The problem is with DELL UPDATE APP. It has my service tag, but for some reason, it recommends a Realtek audio driver.
It is annoying, for about last two months, every time I update drivers, I have to uncheck this Realtek recommendation. The problem is still present in the newest v4.9.0 of the Dell Update App.
Yes, the problem is that DELL UPDATE APP every day pops up and offers me to install the Realtek audio driver.
General Website support works fine. It offers 2 audio drivers for Inspiron 14 5420, but "This Device" Realtek is omitted, and only the correct Cirrus Logis is offered.
I wish I had a Realtek audio device, as it can record system sound via Stereo Mix. Cirrus Logic doesn't have such an option.

First, I agree if it is mistakenly offering an inappropriate update, it should be fixed.
Are you getting the pop-up notification asking for what device was plugged in?
You did not mention what audio device is showing in the Device manager, but I will assume it shows Cirrus instead of what shows below.
The Realtek, if present, may not be exactly the same since I have an older system. No Dolby Atmos on mine!
