I don't know why you took it to Best Buy and Geek Squad.

Repair under warranty would require your sending back to Dell after you contact Dell.

If that is unacceptable, then you need to buy an external webcam.

I brought it to geek squad because I purchased the laptop at Best Buy. Geek squad are contractors for Dell. They determine what warranty coverage I have and they are the ones who send it off to Dell, after it’s been assessed. Geek squad determined the camera is damaged therefore it is not covered under warranty.

Are you saying Dell will in fact fix the damaged camera and it is under warranty? Please clarify.

this response makes no sense. Why should I buy a new webcam when I just purchased a new Dell laptop 3 months ago? Dell should fix this because there’s no way to damage an internal webcam unless there’s a problem with the design  of the product. Buying a new camera is seriously your solution... ?

I did not realize that Best Buy is authorized for warranty work.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/questions/dell-inspiron-15-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i3-6gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-black/5709800/question/225646b7-0a38-3584-8ecd-d636e564c60e

I would contact Dell directly and ask them about the webcam.

I simply don't understand how hardware failure is not covered by warranty.

You will be without your laptop if Dell agrees to repair your laptop !

.Also, post in the Customer Care forum to see if someone from Dell will answer and help.

It’s not hardware failure. They said the camera is damaged from opening and closing the laptop. The warranty is limited and according to them, Dell will not cover it. I’ve been calling Dell for weeks but it’s impossible. Do you have a number I can contact and what exactly can they do tnat geek squad didn’t ? Geek squad would have sent it out to Dell if they felt it was covered under warranty.
