Dell G5 5590 Audio Issues

Question

I just recieved my laptop about 1 week ago and there is a 2in1 port for audio.  I know my headset is working fine, it works on my other computer no issues.  However this laptop pick it up.   I insert the jack into the port and a notification pops up asking what it was, no matter what I choose (Usually headset with microphone), the audio will still play through the laptop speakers and the internal microphone on the laptop remains constant.  I have tried setting the driver to HD Audio Driver instead of the realtek driver, the earbuds on my headset start working but it still does not recognize the microphone (I am going to repeat this headset works on my desktop with NO issues what so ever).   No matter what I do, even if the earbuds are working there is no other option to select the headset microphone aside from the internal microphone.

*UPDATE*

Using the realtek i've found an annoying solution that seems to work just now although I have not tested it thoroughly.

When I plug in my headset I first select Headphones and it started switching. Once it has switched I can go into the control panel and change it manually to headset with microphone.

Any help in providing a less annoying solution would be greatful.
