Dell Inspiron 13 7539 Keyboard replacement Help!
So I have a Dell Inspiron 13 7359 2 in 1 laptop, (link to laptop) and the keyboard just failed. I just want to know if I bought the correct replacement.
I'm unsure since almost every repair guide I watch is replacement of the keyboard with palm rest included like so: Palm Rest selling
What I bought was just the keyboard:
Anyone who has worked on this kind of laptop know if the keyboard is removable from the palm rest? And there are two versions of the keyboard. The most relevant / frequent was the keyboard with the ribbon cable linked above while one did show up with a ribbon cable in the middle. I just bought the one that was being sold the most (ribbon cable not in the middle).

Yeah, I got it fixed. You have to pretty much take out everything. Keyboard covered by some black cover that you gotta peel off. Under that, the keyboard is held in by a bunch of plastic welds. You will have to melt these plastic welds (I used a soldering iron). Don't be afraid to use some strength to pull the keyboard out (2 cables, one for keys and small one for light control). Optional, you will have glue the keyboard back to top plastic frame to keep it higher. I didn't do, didn't really matter, keyboard just slightly sunken.
Here's an iFixit link to my post where people actually helped me (cause dell is useless):

Read service manual on how to dissemble (in ifixit link) and just honestly keep track of screws and take whatever precaution with your cables so you don't damage them when melting plastic welds.
Amazing how much **bleep** they did to make a $20 keyboard impossible. Dell trying to rip you off with a $50-70 replacement that is literally an extra piece of plastic. Bull **bleep**.

Hey I was wondering if you got your keyboard fixed as I am having issues with my keyboard as well. Was what you ordered good, or did you have to get one with the palm rest attached?

The reason it's sealed is to make the system liquid resistant in case of spill -- yes, that means it needs to be replaced as a unit when it fails, but it also makes the system more durable.
