Dell Inspiron 15 5557 - Battery Can't Turn The System On
Hello,
My issue is that the laptop can't turn on with battery only (no AC adapter plugged) for while already but if I boot with the AC adapter you look into the BIOS or the apps in Windows 10 (including the Dell Battery Manager Lite) it shows the battery is good and in charging state.
The battery is recognized by the system and it says it is good but it can't provide energy to the system or really charge... it is stay there always with 42% (it decrease though the days... it was 46% a month ago).
When I turn the system on every time it resets the time to the original time of the BIOS (because the battery can't provide energy to maintain the BIOS settings).
Anybody faced the same issue? Any hint to try to find the solution?
I don't want to buy a new battery without having certain it is the battery the issue.
Edit -
I'm suspicious that the issue started after the BIOS 1.6.0 update but I can't confirm because that BIOS doesn't allow downgrade.
I forced BIOS downgrade via CTRL+ESC with version 1.5.0 and 1.4.1 and it didn't works too... so it is not BIOS version.

I'm assuming windows 10 is on the system...
Please run diagnostic to check the Battery Health and other hardware within the computer.
1. Power off system
2. Power on system, quickly start tapping F12 key continuously until you see Preparing One Time Boot Menu in top right corner of screen. In Dell Preboot menu, select Diagnostic. After quick tests, select Primary Battery, and then Thorough Test Mode. Report back any error code.

I followed the steps and the battery is fine... the tests shows it is fine.
The battery even shows as plugged and changing in BIOS but it doesn’t work if not plugged in AC or even really charger (the % is always the same).
I believe the plugs and all are fine to the system but for some reason the main board can’t use the battery energy or even charge it.
The issue started after some time without boot the machine... few weeks.
