Dell Inspiron display problems
So I have an old Inspiron 1100 running Windows XP It was working fine a few months ago, and then it was put in a box and I finally found it. I turn it on and the display is SO weird. It looks like the display has cracked but if I move the display nothing changes and if I lightly press on it nothing happens. What could be the problem? Is the display card broken or something?
Please help.

No, it does not. From everything you've described, it's a faulty system board.

If it looks like the screen has cracked, most likely it has - it will need to be replaced (though any replacement screen you will find that's compatible will be in it's mid to late teen years, as is the system).
Unless you need the system for something specific, it's neither worth the hunt nor the cost of a screen.
Put what you'd spend on a replacement screen toward a new(er) system.

But if I move the screen, it doesn't do anything (like move the graphics on the screen)

I think it's a video card problem because I move the display and it stays the same..

There's no video card in these systems. You may want to run a screen diagnostic (hold D through powerup). If the same fault shows, it's a screen problem; if not, it's a mainboard problem.

With a 17-year old system, it could be anything. If the screen diagnostics show the same fault as under Windows, it is likely the mainboard that's faulty.

@ejn63
When the Dell logo shows on startup, it's wonky too..
It looks like the broken graphics.. so is it the screen?

If there's a display at all, and the system beeps, the system board is bad. Whether you want to repair a system this old is up to you -- the entire system is worth less than $20 complete and working.

When I try to do it, it starts beeping like crazy and I have to let go of it to stop.

I think it beeped because I didn't have the charger plugged in. It said I had to have the charger plugged in..

Does it look like a screen crack?
