DisplayPort Alt Mode
I have a new Inspiron I3 7391, connected to external Dell monitors P2014H via (to number 1) HDMI and (to number 2) USB C cables.
The USB C connexion constantly (every five seconds) disconnects and reconnects. That causes -
- an alarm tinkle from W10 (which I have got rid of by silencing the alarms), and
- a visual black box with white lines, bottom RH corner of the screen, plus
- in Device Manager a yellow warning triangle for 'unknown USB Device (invalid configuration descriptor)', constantly resetting the list but never resolving itself.
The sound is now off, but the constant disconnect and reconnect must be eating a tiny amount of memory.
Any ideas please?
Steve

My first troubleshooting step would be to try a different cable.

In addition to the above, since the P2014H doesn't have a native USB-C input, I'm guessing you're using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to connect it? If you're instead using USB-C to DVI or VGA, I'd try DisplayPort instead.
