If it is the same make, speed, size, and type...maybe. Even within the same exact RAM from a specific manufacturer there are at times slight variances. That is why RAM is sold in matched pairs. Then they are certified compatible for dual channel use. There is no way to guarantee it will work other than installing it and see what happens.
I'm happy to report the HP memory not only had the same part number but the same chips. It's not top of the line but I now have 16GB of dual channel, reported in the bios, for $40.
