Error code: 2000 0142

Hi, I hope you can help me with this problem. I'm getting an error code after running diagnostic: Error code: 2000 0142 V alidation: 66313 Msg: Hard drive 0 - S/N S2X2J90D114551,long self test unsuccessful. I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 3521 that I boughtin 2013. several days ago, it became slow , had trouble booting up, and couldn't boot windwos  i had a hard time booting again since everytime I did it, the disk scan would start and freeze again. Is there a way I could fix this without having to buy another hard drive? Thanks in advance.
