First, could you describe where you are seeing the CPU usage? Is it in the Task Manager and for a specific process?
The Intel Proset/Wireless is, as far as I know part of the normal Wireless install. You may be able to select not to install it or not but you are running the latest Wireless driver from Dell?
I checked the CPU usage in the task manager. The problem appeared every time the laptop was plugged in. I have updated some of my drivers via the Dell website; it currently seems OK. I suspect that the latest Windows update wasn't compatible with some outdated drivers.
