Fingerprint devices does not found

Question

Goodix fingerprint device not found. In the device manager biometric devices not appear in device manager win 10, dell 5584 type os mine. My bios version is 1.8.0. Windows 10 pro, version 1909, build number : 18363.476. We are trying to install a driver in vain. I tried to back up and restore my pc, and reinstall, but it is doesn't work yet.

What is the problem?

I have same issue on Dell Inspiron 5491 2n1. Biomectric does not appear on Device Manager.

I logged in this morning, found that fingerprint did not work. As expected, there was a Windows update (March 10, 2020—KB4540673).

After that update, Biometric still does not appear on Device Manager.

The fingerprint reader is optional - and it seems a scarce option, as it's not mentioned on any of the current US-spec G3 systems.

You may want to verify that the model you bought has one -- it seems very few if any of them have that option.

Hello, I have the similar issue.  Finger print scanner suddenly stopped working.  Biometric option is not found in device manager.

I have experienced the same problem very recently (around November 21th 2020). I have a Dell Inspiron 7501. Tried to reinstall Goodix driver but get 'fingerprint device not found' message. |Not sure what caused it to stop. BIOS update was done a couple of months ago an no problem. Could the culprit be the latest Windows 20HS2 update? How can this be fixed?

I have been struggling with this problem for long. I have requested support. But, they have failed to resolve the issue. They made me clean install. After clean install it worked for few days, though it was not consistent. Now it has vanished again. Not seen on the devise manager as well.

Same problem Here,  it was working fine and it suddently stopped working. driver cannot be installed as the device does not appear in the list...   any suggestion?

For me it worked after I updated the BIOS driver from SupportAssist. Did you try that?
