G15 5525, retail AMD driver, SupportAssist message

Dell G15 5525

Dell G15 5525

5 days back I purchased a Dell g15 5515 with Ryzen 5 6600H mobile processor. Now while auto-checking for updates in 'dell support', it's showing to download 'AMD-Ryzen-9-6900HX-7-6800H-5-6600H-Radeon-Graphics driver' file as i have older version according to website. Now whenever I am trying to install the files, it's showing that the process is successful but the AMD Radeon adrenaline software is going missing from everywhere from start, from toolbar etc. after some research on YOUTUBE I finally uninstalled the device from device manager > display adapter>AMD Radeon(tm) graphics, went to official website of AMD and downloaded a version through auto-detection again and this software this working for now.

it's showing software is up to date and the version is 22.5.1 , while restarting the screen got freeze and I had to force shut down. Now device is working fine but still Dell SupportAssist is telling to download the update.

device manager > display adapter>AMD Radeon(tm) graphics>properties>driver version:30.0.15021.11005..... I am seeing

Installed Version

2.2.0.130

Latest Version

31.0.12024.0

in dell support.

can anyone tell me what is going on and how to solve this thing?

The Dell support assist software is not coded to work with the drivers downloaded directly from AMD -- it's either use Support Assist to manage the drivers, or manually install them from AMD.  You cannot do both.

  • But at first I installed the update from dell and as I installed it got disappeared? So isn't there any problem with dell support assist?

As correctly pointed out by ejn63, since you have installed the retail AMD direct driver, SupportAssist will continue to show the update as it is referring to the Dell Support site OEM driver.

Hi - I am getting the same issue with my Dell, but all drivers are downloaded from Dell  Assist.
The ‘solved’ solution on this thread doesn’t fix the actual problem here - AMD software just disappears.
