G3 3579 upgrading the memory

Hi all,

Wanted to bump my ram from the 8GB that came with it to 32GB. Found a 2X16GB set of Crucial Vengeance sticks on Amazon. Stats were the same as the stock stick, SODIMM DDR4 2666. Installed the new sticks and went to boot, crickets. I have been around computers long enough to know that if it doesn't even get past the POST, it's usually memory related. Reseated the sticks and tried again, nothing. I know sometimes memory is bad coming out of the factory but has anybody experienced anything like this with both sticks bad? Crucial has always been good to me in the past. Is there something I'm missing here?

Thank you in advance!

If you go to the Crucial web site it will show you what sticks are compatible with your notebook.

It sounds to me like your Voltages may not be the same and the timings may not be compatible

Your Service Manual may also show you what brand and type RAM Sticks are compatible.

To get this information you need to log on to support, enter your model number and most importantly Enter your Service Tag Number.

That will open all the hardware information on your Particular notebook, You should download and read your Service Manual there you will find out how to open your notebook The upgrade RAM Section should have the information you need. not all RAM is compatible with all notebooks. There not like desktops that will usually take e any RAM

Thanks for the reply Clint, turns out the specs were correct. I'll send these back and get a replacement set sent out.

Thanks and be safe!
