G3 3779 Laptop Upgrade

Did Dell ever make an upgrade to this model?  I have the G3 3779 Laptop that is now starting to show signs of it's age.  I can't play Mafia III.  It stutters like crazy and am not sure if it's the 1050Ti that's doing it or something else.

Suggestons?

Only the RAM and storage are upgradable -- neither the GPU nor the CPU can be upgraded.

If the system has never had a thorough internal cleaning along with a replacement of the thermal pads/compound that connect the heatsink with the GPU/GPU, that may be the best way to proceed -- it should reduce the operating temperatures and throttling/stuttering.

However, if you're trying to run a demanding game, note that the 1050Ti GPU is aging and it may not produce optimal results with newer games.

For that, you need a new system.

I have been trying to play games on this G3 3779 gaming laptop but for some reason each game is trying to use my integrated video instead of the 1060? There is just terrible stuttering and complete slowdown on the G3 3779 making games almost unplayable, especially Mafia III. Is there any way to disable the on board video in the BIOS?

Thanks

On this model, no -- the nVidia GPU cannot be made primary.
