That RAM should be fine.

People are doing upgrades to their laptops/desktops all the time. "Wifi, Memory, CPU, SSD etc."

As far as upgrades while still under warranty.

The standard seems to be during any upgrade if you cause damage, then you pay for any repairs required by computer manufacturer.

Of course, the upgraded hardware will not be covered under your warranty.

Just in case of sending it in for "Warranty" repair you may want to save the old hardware as you may need to install the original equipment.
