HID Keyboard breaks laptop keyboard functions
MY alt+tab and esc functions stopped working
I discovered that the HID keyboard is the cause and once removed tends to resolve the problem. However, it keeps on reinstalling by itself. I have turned off the automatic download setting on Device Installation Settings but this makes no difference as the keyboard keeps on installing.
All Windows and Dell updates have been done
This is maddening. Please assist

hi @Ian Dell did you ever get a fix for this. i'm suffering from a similar problem (as you can see from my lowercase letters!)
Keys like shift, ctrl, win, etc work intermittently.
pretty sure it's a driver issue because when i plug a good external bluetooth keyboard in i get the same problems.
Driving me mad!

If you are having issues with the Alt-Tab keys, it's likely that your keyboard is damaged by dirt or has broken down. To verify whether the problem is really coming from your keyboard or not, you may simply test the Alt-Tab shortcut on another keyboard connected to your computer to see if it works.

yeah - tried that. i have a bluetooth keyboard that works perfectly on other laptops. however when i plug it into this laptop it exhibits all of the same behaviour that the laptops built in keyboard does.
And so conclusion is that it isn't a mechanical fault with the laptops keyboard, but perhaps something driver or software related.
Very very frustrating!

Did you ever get a resolution to this @Ian Dell ?
I have the same issue and it's driving me mad.
Whenever I call Dell tech support they go down the route of faulty hardware/keyboard ... but the symptoms don't support this. I think there's a Driver and/or OS/Software issue.
