Headset mic not recognised, inbuilt mic being used instead

My Inspiron 15 was working fine until recently.
I was gaming with my friends when they said that my mic quality sounded bad, upon further discovery I found that my laptop was using the inbuilt mic instead of my headset mic.

Essentially, the mic on my headset is not being recognised.

In recording devices, the inbuilt microphone is the only one listed as 'Microphone', even with disabled devices showing.

The Waves MaxxAudio pop-up stopped 'popping up' even though the box is ticked to show up it never does.

My headset is functional, and the mic is working as normal, as I have tested it on multiple other devices, phones, other laptops etc.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers and done a reset of my computer, saving my personal files.

The native driver is installed, if I go to Device managers>Sound, video and game controllers>High definition audio device.

Essentially I assume its either a problem with the drivers or with Waves MaxxAudio, seeing as the box is ticked for showing popup yet it doesn't show and the lack of other recording devices in the sound manager

NOTE: was working completely fine about a month ago with the Waves popup showing and my headset mic was being recognised. This issue arose out of the blue.
