How many RAM slots does the G7 have?

So since my older laptop decided to have a mental breakdown, I decided it was time to buy a new laptop, warranty was expired about 4 years old, so I looked through Best Buy. Found the G7 with 256GB SDD, 8GB of RAM, GTX1060, I could see myself using it. Then I seen the higher priced model which is the one that seem alot better. But I decided I could save some cash by taking out the RAM of the old laptop and see if it works with the G7. Plus I'll just throw in the 1TB hard drive in there. So my question is...how many RAM slots does the G7 have, and how many are being used out of the box?

It has two sockets, and one or both could be occupied depending on the configuration. If the system comes with 8G RAM, chances are one slot will be open.

That said, RAM from a system that's 4-5+ years old won't work in the new model - it will be incompatible. Any system of that age will use DDR3 memory; the G7 requires DDR4.

Be careful with the drive as well - older systems tended to be equipped with 9.5 mm drives - which won't fit in the G7 (the new system takes 7 mm max).

The Dell G7 has 2 sodimm ram slots. You can fill these up with 8,12,16,32 gb ram.
