You can either go to the Dell support page, type in your service tag number, and in documentation the specs for your system can be displayed stating memory specs. Or go to Crucial and type in your model number and the specs for compatible memory will be displayed. Crucial also has a small app that you can install which will tell you how many SODIMM slots you have and what RAM is populated in those slots.

The problem is that I haven't bought any notebook yet. I am decidig wether to buy it or not. Then, I don't have neither any service number nor model number. I would like to know if what I am buying can be upgraded.

Thank you

I bought DELL Inspiron 15 3000 with 4 GB RAM. It is upgradable by another 4 GB RAM.

The PC had Window 10 and Office 2019 Home and Student edition. My experience is horrible. It overheats and hangs within 30 minutes even with basic software like Google Meet or Word. I have wasted over 100 hours trying to fix the issue which has remained unaddressed till date despite of at least 7-8 rounds of interaction with Dell support team. It is hardly 2 months old laptop and Heat Sync and Fan have already been replaced. Dell team is also telling that there may be problem of Mother Board also and many times it does not get detected in their "Quick Check" feature of support.

Windows and office do not come with Product Key.  You have to literally fight with them to configure it on Office.com site. Microsoft team also fails to provide you support without Dell configuring your product on office.com site. Check the warranty carefully with regard to what all are included in it. Dell support team in India told me that the system is available with only hardware warranty and they have checked hardware and there is no issue implying it is your headache if you are unable to use the laptop.

Support team has asked me to buy premium service for about Rs. 2500 (1 dollor = about Rs. 77) to fix the issues coming up due to software. Walk in service centres of Dell are not allowed to provide service to my laptop. The Dell team has told me that I must upgrade to get it properly functioning.

@DiwakarSSit sounds like you had a really rough time with your laptop.  Ugh!

You can always get the product keys for your software licenses by running the free Belarc Advisor tool.  I periodically run the tool as part of my normal backup process.  When I get the results, I both take screenshots and save the entire webpage in my backups.  Here is a link to the software:

Belarc Advisor

The product keys will appear in the section appropriately titled "Software Licenses".

Hope this helps!

@jepba11 is this an Inspiron 15?  did you have to remove the keyboard to get to the screws underneath it?
