Inspiron 5548 Hinge Defective - Possible design/manufacturing flaw (?!)

My carefully used, operated and well maintained Dell Inspiron 5548's case is separating at the top right corner and also making a cracking noise while opening/closing the lid. This seems to be a potential design and/or manufacturing flaw, since many owners of this type of and similar laptops reported the same problem. The construction of nuts and bolts holding hinges are obviously too weak to fulfill their function they've been designed for. This is very unfortunate, as I trusted the company so far that it carries out proper endurance testing before using a certain kind of manufacturing solution.

Any suggestions for an effective and cheap repair solution (since my laptop is out of warranty, by a few weeks, unfortunately)?

Thanks!
