Inspiron 5570, SSD read speed?
I installed a Samsung 970 EVO (250 GB) M.2 NVME SSD in my Dell Inspiron 5570, changed BIOS from RAID to AHCI , installed fresh Windows, installed the Samsung ssd driver, installed Samsung Magician, it detects the SSD and showing Interface PCIe Gen 3 X 4,
Now Windows Boot time is14 Secs, Adobe PS CC loading time is 3 Secs ... every thing is going fine but I am getting sequential read speed of the SSD around 1800mb/s instead of its advertised speed above 3000mb/s.

Please give us an explicit answer
If the problem is not resolved, I will return the laptop

So the problem is NOT a software problem which can be solved by updating BIOS.
It is a hardware problem?

Lets make this CLEAR
Dell inspiron 5570 with i7-8550U and external graphics.
CPU lanes (from https://ark.intel.com/products/122589/Intel-Core-i7-8550U-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4-00-GHz-)
ARE :
1x4, 2x2, 1x2+2x1 and 4x1
If 4x lane is connected TO GRAPHICS CARD.
HOW it could be also 4x lane connected to NVMe SLOT ?
This is final nail into coffin. Dont get eyes soaped by Dell service liars , this is NOT firmware problem that Dell engineers are working more than half a year. This is hardware Issue. If you need NVMe x4 you have right to give back laptop to your reseller. PRODUCT IS NOT MEETING ADVERTISED FEATURES !

I have the SX8200 and problem is startup to login screen is very slow (feels like same speed as the 5400 rpm drive). It seems that the EFI system partition is properly installed on the SSD. Even deleted the leftover ESP on the 5400 rpm drive and no change.
When I installed Win10 on the SSD I still had it existing on the original drive and deleted after booting to SSD, so maybe that caused an issue?

Thanks for all the posts in this thread! I have a learnt a lot about why I may not be getting the full rated speed of my Crucial P1 M.2 NVMe 500 GB on my Dell 15 Inspiron 5570....what I get is:
I reached out to Crucial product support and they got to me with this link :
https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/bios-uefi-configuration-optimizing-m2
and asked me to work with Dell (this is their way of saying that the problem / limitation is Dell as the Dell Bios (ver 1.21) still does not allow me to allocate the 4 lanes!
Doubt if Dell will be able to help me!

Reached out to Dell - and text chatted - with a tech svc person - who said that they will not be able to comment on any 3rd party solutions unless that product was tested for the unit by Dell and/or sold by Dell!

Thank you all for the detailed information. We're now in BIOS 1.2.3. Still at 1,800 MB/s.
Has anyone been able to fix the GT4 issue... and getting 3,500 MB/s speeds?

Just read through this thread, My educated guess is that Dell has only opened the PCIe lanes to 2 lanes, not the 4 lanes needed for fast speeds with any of the latest m.2 NVME SSDs on this model.
This is my 960 Pro m.2 NVME in my G752VY gaming notebook it open to 4 lanes and this notebook and SSD are 4 + years old.
I'll edit this Reply with my Inspiron 13 7386 and 970 Evo later today. It also is m2 NVME open to 4 lanes

It's July 2021 and we still don't have a solution to the problem. We are already with Bios version 1.4.1.
I still hope to have a solution.

Just a wild guess, I don't think Dell is going to fix this, it has been 3 years since the first post. I see a workaround in some other post. I have no clue as to whether that works or not. Again Post to Customer Care subforum they have Dell employees there that may or not help.
