The system is somewhere between 2-3 years old -- time to replace the battery.

I am currently waiting on my FOURTH battery in a little over 2 1/2 years on my 7370 They diagnosed the motherboard as the "probable" problem, but I didn't want a refurbished MB in a brand new laptop, wanted to give the "new refurbished" battery that was at 79% capacity fully charged a chance- lasted a little over 7 months.  So after burning through three batteries, I said to tech support, just send the MB too, this isn't normal. "What MB?" they said. I spent hours and hours going back and forth with Techs, who were trying to PROVE IT WASN'T THE MB! Two- 2 hr windows for them to call back and one tech called was an hour and a half after the window -"I was busy"-closed, schedule a third one Monday! I bought a battery (That I shouldn't of had too) contacted the warranty dept. (Thank you guys!) and had it resolved in 15 minutes. Told Technical support to not contact me on this issue again. I have to stop now, blood pressure going up astronomically reliving the fiasco...feeling faint...

I've went through four batteries in 2 1/2 years. Finally they're replacing the Mother board. If I got paid per hour at work for what I spent on the phone/ email/ diagnosing , I'd be typing on a top of the line XPS right now, instead of hoping a MB may or may not solve my 7370 eating and spitting out batteries like they were USB candy...

I'm currently awaiting the battery, and the Tech to get the motherboard delivered to him. Have extended warranty/premium support, which was very frustrating to use. I really dislike they use refurbished parts on almost everything, getting less than two hours out of my 7370, with every possible battery saving setting on....

Kindly follow the steps below which would help in improving the battery performance.

1-Remove USB powered devices whenever possible

2-Close all unnecessary programs when not in use

3-Decrease the screen brightness

4-Turn off the backlit feature on your keyboard, if your computer has that feature

5-Keep the Vents clear

6-Change the Power Management Plan

7-Change the power plan setting to shut down your screen and hard drive when not in use

8-Update the BIOS

Kindly private message the service tag and email address.

Thanks

Sure,I'll get back to you. I'm curious and nervous about that too, after it's done. I also want so see if I get a battery that's at more than 80% capacity when fully charged...

I wish Dell would at least admit there's a battery problem with the Inspiron 7370. I bought it because of the stated (7-8hr) battery life, back-lighted keyboards, and being a fast SSD laptop. Why advertise it if you have to turn it all off? The brightness is good at the lowest possible setting, always had it there since day one. But to say to change the performance to it's slowest level, change the battery/management plan to it's lowest level, it becomes an almost common, average speed laptop. Just to get a below average battery life. Never even broke the 5 hour mark on mine since I've had it, going on 4th battery in less than three years.

The problem is the newly design batteries not the laptops from any manufacturer. Nowadays all new batteries don't last very long at all on any model. The thinner, lighter laptops can't handle the old battery design so now batteries can wear down or fail after only 18-24 months or even earlier. On the bright side most new laptops can run without the battery using the adapter alone. That defeats the purpose of having a laptop but if you can use a desktop replacement, it's good to know. Here is the official info about batteries from Dell--

https://www.dell.com/support/article/en-us/sln128667/dell-laptop-battery-frequently-asked-questions?lang=en

Today's batteries don't even last long on the shelf so replacement batteries are usually out of stock when you need them. And you cannot buy ahead of time for the same reason. Some of the recommendations about extending battery life in the old articles are out of date now.

I had the motherboard and battery changed out today. The battery is at 93% capacity when fully charged, the laptop didn't even get warm when charging like it normally did, ever since I bought it, I keep feeling just above the keyboard and think "Wow, it's nice and cool" The only problem that both me and the tech missed, was it was on BIOS 1.13.1 and not the 1.17.1 that was downloaded on Aug. 28th, I caught it when I went to the bios page to look at the battery settings there, so I downloaded the new BIOS without a problem, updates etc. So, it's so far so good. I really hope it was just a motherboard problem. The Tech was real friendly, a Vet like me, and so far everything is going smooth...

Hello

glad to hear that ,

how many hours does it last ?

when you on your desk to you keep the adapter connected all the time? Or when it’s in full charge you remove it

some DELL people said : you have to disconnect and

some said no , the power will go to the mother board it won’t go through the battery .

If the minimum of 18 months of battery time was true, I'd have this six years not 2 and 1/2 years, with the four I put in...They're sending a #3 motherboard next week...this ones defective too...
