Inspiron 7547 cannot boot after failed update BIOS
Inspiron 7547
I updated the BIOS but unfortunately, it failed, after that I cannot start the computer. I tried many ways that I can find it on the internet. I tried to access BIOS recovery but was not successful also.
- Verify that the laptop is turned off and disconnect the AC adapter.
- Press and hold the CTRL + ESC key on the keyboard.
- Connect the AC adapter to the laptop.
- Release the CTRL + ESC key on the keyboard after you see the BIOS recovery screen
The BIOS recovery screen never appears and I don't know how. My computer is now like a brick, it just shows a black screen and nothing happen when I push the power button.
Please help. Thanks

Power ON the machine, tap F2 key on the startup Dell logo, it takes you to the BIOS screen. Move to "Boot" tab, Select "Boot list options" , change the option from "Legacy" to "UEFI". Restart the machine, it should load fine to Windows.

If the BIOS recovery screen is not appearing, it's possible that the recovery process is not working as intended.
Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Disconnect all external devices, including the AC adapter, and remove the laptop battery if possible. Then, press and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
Reconnect the AC adapter and try to turn on the laptop. If it doesn't turn on, try a different AC adapter or power source.
If the laptop still doesn't turn on, it's possible that the failed BIOS update has corrupted the motherboard or BIOS chip. In this case, you may need to take the laptop to a professional repair service to diagnose and fix the issue.
If you're comfortable with hardware troubleshooting, you can try to reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard for a few minutes, then reinserting it and trying to turn on the laptop again.
Note: Before attempting any hardware troubleshooting, make sure to refer to your laptop's user manual or manufacturer's website for specific instructions and precautions.

Even the i7 boards for this model are under $200 -- which is less than you'd pay a shop to desolder the BIOS chip, flash it externally and replace it.
It'll be less expensive to replace the system board than the chip.

It’s also an option but I don’t know where I can buy a board to replace. I cannot find it at Dell site. Can you let me know where I can buy an i7 board. Thanks

Bruce Do,
To receive assistance from Dell support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Click the "Get help now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. Provide to them the private Service Tag and all of your troubleshooting.
