Inspiron 7580 not starting up

Hi,

I got a Dell Inspiron 7580 laptop (purchased end of 2019, so unfortunately out of warranty)  that at some point stopped charging and now even after troubleshooting doesn't turn on at all (no fans, lights, sound, etc). Unfortunately my daughter was using this laptop and only decided to tell me after it ran out of battery so I wasn't able to do any troubleshooting on it while it was still turned on. I work in IT myself so I'm left puzzled here and hoping someone can give a suggestion on what else I can try to get it up and running again.

The charger still had the green light on it indicating there is power, however I still purchased a new charger, which doesn't wiggle so should have a steady connection, and installed a new battery (just in case, both genuine Dell replacements with the same product/model number) after draining any static power left on the device after removing the old one - held power button for 30sec. I then let the laptop charge for about 15minutes and it turned on for a couple of minutes, and yay it loaded up Windows and I was able to log in! However then shut down while I was taking a well deserved 5 minute break right after. Ever since then performing a hard reset on the device doesn't seem to work anymore (unplugging, removing battery, draining charge as mentioned above, plugging battery back in, close laptop, plug in charger, wait a bit..), no response whatsoever.

Any further advise is appreciated

Hello,

Open the laptop disconnect the battery from the motherboard and try if the system starts using only AC power if it does we now know what the issue is .

Ah forgot to mention this, it won't turn on on AC power only either.

Run a hardware diagnostic test.

Running a hardware diagnostic test helps you identify potential hardware failure. Dell laptops, desktops, all-in-ones, and Windows-based tablets have an integrated diagnostic test. It is called the SupportAssist Pre Boot System Assessment or Enhanced Pre-Boot System Assessment (ePSA).

NOTE: If the diagnostic test fails, make a note of the error code and validation code that the diagnostic test provides. This helps Dell Technical Support to identify which hardware component is causing the issue and provide repair options.
