Inspiron 7591 - Latest Realtek drivers
After installing the newest Realtek audio drivers my microphone no longer picks up sound. It seems to be recording from the speakers and I'm unable to change anything.

I assume it all worked before the new driver (which may not be needed anyway).
Do a driver rollback to the previous that worked OK.
RIGHT click on the Start icon (lower left) and then select Device Manager. Select the Realtek audio driver and then the Driver section and finally select rollback.
I see the new driver was updated today (6/2) so if you had the original release this may have fixed it.
There is also a note about Waves Maxxaudio.
"This audio driver requires the Waves MaxxAudio Pro application that is installed to have full functionality. Waves MaxxAudio Pro is now a separate application that must be downloaded and installed from the Microsoft Store. This package that links to the Microsoft Store application is provided on support.Dell.com under the Drivers and Downloads Audio category."
So, do the rollback (restart the PC, don't skip this step) try the new driver again (restart after the install) then install (reinstall) Waves MaxxAudio. See if this sorts things back out.
