Inspiron 7786 - Upgrade CPU
Hey guys,
first off I would really appreciate your help.
I'm wondering, if I can upgrade the CPU somehow. I've already upgraded the RAM and it really works nice, but CPU usage is always above 80%, mostly at 94% avg. This is just insane, if you think about spending almost $1.500 for a Laptop. Due to my job I am using several clients at the same time connected to 2 external screens, seems like the 7786 just can't handle it. I've also disconnected the monitors, but the CPU usage doesn't change.
Like I said I would really appreciate some help.
Thanks in advance.

Optane isn't going to boost the performance of a native SSD you already have. If the CPU is maxed out, see what's consuming its time (open the task manager) and disable the service(s) you don't need -- these may include many of the Dell support assist services, and if you have it installed, dispatching McAfee in favor of Windows own security software will likely help quite a bit.

@I.Gecer , you already upgraded the Ram, so the other practical upgrade would be the SSD drive if you haven't done so. The CPU is soldered onto the motherboard, upgrade will be required changing out the motherboard.

What I don't understand is that there is already a 500 GB Toshiba SSD, but at the same time there is a HDD inside. But if I click on "My Computer" properties it only shows up the SSD. I mean I actually only need 500 GB and not more or what you mean by upgrading to SSD?

Unfortunately it doesn't show up in BIOS either. I'm gonna open up the back cover of my Inspiron and take a look inside again...maybe I have seen something wrong?

Windows will not see the drive unless it has been partitioned and formatted.
Does system setup (F2 at powerup) see the drive? If it does not, the drive is either not properly connected to the system board, or it has failed.
If setup does see the drive, and it's new, partition and format it:

So what do we have to do to let's say support the CPU? Intel Optane Memory? new SSD? additional HDD (I actually don't need an internal HDD)

Well, the clients I use take a lot of CPU's %, but yeah, I have McAffee. Guess we just delete it. So you say unfortunately there's nothing else we can do about it? Really annoying to see that CPU is always that high.

I've deinstalled McAffee and it all works just fine I guess...way better than before...next step is formatting...

Sorry this is a bit off subject, but did you upgrade to 32GB RAM? If so, did you use 2x16 2400 or 3200? I know the system uses 2400 but Crucial is pushing 3200.
