Inspiron 7786 Windows 11 Disappearing Keyboard
Inspiron 7786 2-in-1
I use an Inspiron 7786 I've had a few years and a very happy with. After moving to Windows 11 a few months back, I have a periodic problem I am sure I cause myself. I have the touch pad disabled on purpose. Sometimes when I'm typing, I lose the ability to use my keyboard and the taskbar icons in the bottom middle of my screen get large. The only way to get my keyboard back of which I am aware is to restart (although I presume there is some other way I don't know about).
I am sure I am just hitting something accidentally to make this happen. Any ideas?

If you are experiencing an issue with the keyboard on your Dell Inspiron 7786 disappearing or not working properly after upgrading to Windows 11, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem. Here's what you can try:
Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows 11 installation is up to date. Microsoft regularly releases updates that may address compatibility issues and bugs. Go to "Settings" > "Windows Update" and click on "Check for updates."
Update Device Drivers: Outdated or incompatible device drivers can cause various hardware issues. Visit Dell's official website, go to the "Support" section, and download the latest drivers for your Inspiron 7786, especially those related to the keyboard and touchpad. Install the drivers and restart your computer.
Check Keyboard Settings: Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Typing." Check the keyboard settings to ensure that the correct keyboard layout and language are selected. Also, make sure that the "Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and there's no keyboard attached" option is enabled.
Toggle Tablet Mode: If you are using a 2-in-1 laptop like the Inspiron 7786, try toggling tablet mode on and off. You can do this by clicking on the "Notifications" icon in the taskbar and selecting "Tablet mode."
Run Troubleshooter: Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help identify and fix common issues. Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Troubleshoot" and run the "Keyboard" troubleshooter.
Disable Third-Party Software: Some third-party applications or software might be interfering with the keyboard functionality. Try disabling or uninstalling any recently installed software and see if the issue persists.
Perform a Clean Boot: Booting into a clean state can help identify if third-party software is causing the problem. Perform a clean boot by following these steps:
Check for Hardware Issues: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, there might be a hardware problem with the keyboard or its connections. In this case, it's best to contact Dell's customer support or take your Inspiron 7786 to an authorized service center for further diagnosis and repair.
Remember to back up your important data before attempting any major troubleshooting steps or updates.
