Inspiron G3 15 3590, hinge broken
The hinge on my laptop broke this morning. I called customer care and they said my warranty is expired and this issue is not covered. I would have to pay $39 for them to send me a box to send my laptop in and it will take 12-15 business days once they receive the laptop for them to diagnostic and get back to me with repair cost. Or $59 for 5-7 business once they receive it. Which is crazy cause this laptop cause I haven't had it long and it sits in the same spot for work mostly and it's in great condition. This issue seems to be common and it seems as if the issue could recur. I have to think hard about getting it fix. It might be worth looking into other brand laptops at this point.

I have the same issue along with a large community of Dell users. This is 100% a design flaw and Dell should listen to these Forums and correct this issue immediately... There are two issues with their design:
1) first the screws that connect the hinge to the back-screen are too short to support the amount of pressure exerted when opening the closing the monitor.
2) the nuts the control the tension are too tight which forces people to use more force to open and close than the screws can support.
Overall, this is not an end-user issue; however, a design and construction flaw that should be addressed by Dell. I have contact Dell and my issue has been escalated a couple times without success. My last conversation today from:
Prashant Gaur
Senior Support Resolver
Dell Resolution Team
He has stated that he is not able to assist and that this is not a design flaw - he is not stating what the issue is and feels these forums are not a direct knowledge of this issue. He made it sound as if we all decided to wake up and pick on Dell with this issue. I am trying to continue to have my issue resolved.

It crazy how so many people been having the same issue and Dell is not doing anything about it. Everybody I talked too couldn’t help with this issue. Something needs to be down. At this point I will never buy another Dell computer again.
