Inspiron problems with HDMI cable : Monitor not detecting

Hi There Ive been using a DELL montior attached to my Inspiron laptop without any issues for the past few months. Last week though I tried to use the laptop on another LG monitor with VGA input(hence using HDMI port on the laptop to the VGA port on Monitor - different cable but similar type ) but the signals between the two were not detected. Then I tried to connect the laptop to its previous DELL monitor with its original cable but now it won't detect the monitor that it previously could... Strang thing though is that when I tried to connect the laptop to a TV with a different cable(without the ferrit bead) it worked! And then used the same cable with the DELL monitor and its fine . But why would the orginal HDMI cable become unworkable so suddenly? Is it an issue with the ferrit bead ?
