Inspiron running extremely slow
Hi,
I have an old Dell Inspiron i7-3630QM@2.4ghz that I've had for probably around 7 or 8 years now and was working perfectly albeit starting to slow last few years until 6 months ago where I got stuck in a blue screen loop and had to put it in for repair, since then it is running unbearably slow unlike ever before and takes 15-20 mins to start up and from then takes a significant time to do anything.
What could be a possible issue and I unfortunately don't have funds to buy another laptop at the moment. Could replacing the processor maybe help?
Thanks

You can try to reinstall the system and uninstall unnecessary applications.

Thats what the repair shop done as in the blue screen loop it wouldn't let me perform this myself. Since the reinstall im currently running at around 30% of the applications I had previously and its slower than it ever was before, I used to use the laptop to run some video games and that when I was younger now I struggle to even load word.

Run an extended diagnostic on the hard drive (F12 at powerup -- let the quick tests run and then run the surface test on the drive; allow several hours).

Kindly follow the steps below :
1- Disable startup programs
2- Run virus scan to check for malware
3-uninstall all unwanted programs
4-Run animation on minimum settings.
5- Back up the data on the system and reset to factory defaults.
