You need to contact Crucial and let them know that the memory you bought is not comptible. They will replace it for they warrant their memory to work in dell computers. The original is 1600 Ram are the modules you bought 1600 RAM

I did contact Crucial previously and this is what they replied back with when I questioned my purchase:

Although the part number you see on our Web site is not the same as the part number on the module you received, rest assured that this is the same part. CT7926149 is exactly the same as CT102464BF160B.C16FPD.

The part number that you see on your module is the actual module part number. The external part number/SKU is a number used only for ordering and tracking purposes.

I have been using the 10gb memory (2gb module that came with the Dell laptop and a 8gb module from Crucial) for a week now and I have not had one BSOD issue.  I just swapped out the 2gb module with the other 8gb module from Crucial and within 10 minutes of booting up the laptop I got the BSOD screen with the following error message:

Stop Code: SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED

What failed: NTFS.sys

I replaced the 8gb module with the 2gb module and everything is working just fine so far.

At this point I'm really not sure if there is an issue with the laptop or the memory.  I will send all this information to Crucial and see what they have to say.  I fear they will blame it on the computer and tell me to discuss this with DELL.

I received an email from Crucial and they said since I tested every module individually, it has ruled out a possible function failure with each module. A search of the Error Code : 2000-0122, reveals a possible slot malfunction on the motherboard.

They said I need to contact Dell support to address the issue.  I will now contact Dell and see what they have to say about this issue.

Crucial did offer to reimburse me for the other 8gb module since I cannot use it.  I didn't expect that and thought that said a lot about Crucial.  I told them I will discuss the issue with Dell and I see if I can get the issue resolved so I can use 16gb since the specs for the laptop says it supports 16gb.

Well I just talked to Dell Support and they said since I did not purchase the memory from Dell or have a Dell technician install the memory then they cannot validate if it's a memory issue.  I asked if I purchased memory from Dell and installed it myself and have the same problem would Dell fix my laptop.  They said yes but I would have to pay for it since the laptop is out of warranty.  I told them so Dell sells me a defective laptop, which I would have never known unless I upgraded the memory, and now I have to pay them to fix it.  Thanks but no thanks.  If Dell doesn't stand by their products I will go with another brand.  I will just leave the laptop running 10gb and give it to my 6 yr old grandson and purchase a Surface Book 2 and call it a day.
