We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.
This one is a bit trick cause you cant just grab another keypad from Amazon or on ebay.
You can start with the usually hard power down which solves most temporary problems. Press the power button until all lights go off and turn it on again to see if the problem is solved
Drivers, probably if have installed third party tools they can mess with the keyboard. Uninstall the drivers and if any third party tools. Reboot. Keyboard should install system drivers after reboot.
Get another one.
Probably more difficult to replace but if you love the machine call that nerd friend of yours and he/she will grumpily replace it for you. Good luck
