Keyboard not working after windows updating

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567. My keyboard stopped working during the regular Win 10 update I did the day before yesterday. More specifically, in working windows there are function keys responsible for brightening the screen, i.e. from f10 up and that's it. In bios, the keyboard works normally, so it's not a hardware issue. I have current bios drivers, etc. I uninstalled in device manager, installed drivers (keyboard) from della website. Nothing helped. I have reinstalled windows, but no improvement.

You might be experiencing this issue because the current keyboard driver is not playing nice with the new Windows update. As such, we recommend that you check Dell's website for the latest keyboard driver for your laptop. If the issue persists while using the latest driver, try using an older one.

A configuration error can also cause this issue. To isolate the cause of this problem, we suggest that you run the hardware troubleshooter. This tool can help diagnose and fix hardware issues. Here's how:

  1. Click Start.
  2. On the search bar, type Troubleshooting, and click on Troubleshooting from the results.
  3. Click Hardware and Sound.
  4. Under Device, click Hardware and Devices.

I have the same problem and your answer doesn't help at all. I think this is the last time i use Dell product. Windows doesn't even care bother to be compatible to Dell laptops. And Dell support is absolutely clueless Dell 15 gaming 7567

Welcome to the Dell Community @Jonzz

I agree "Dell support is absolutely clueless"

But one thing you have to understand is every time Microsoft has an update we all hold our breath as to what detriment it will have on the system.

I have Panasonic CF-19 MK8's that with just about every Microsoft update causes hardware conflicts.

Recent update causes the GPS to be interpreted as touchpad.

Pointer uncontrollable.

For now we have to disable GPS in the BIOS just to use them until a "NEW" fix comes out.

This is the second time this has happened you think Microsoft would figure this out???

Best regards,

U2

I had the same problem today (02/17/2023).  I turned off my laptop.  Unplugged it.  Removed all USB devices.  Restarted.  The keyboard is now working.  Then re-inserted USB's.
