Laptop not charging

My Dell Inspiron 13 5000, which was working perfectly fine till yesterday, has suddenly stopped charging i.e the laptop battery when i put into charge was 20 % despite beingt on charge, it continiously was decreasing ,however i was able to use it while it was plugged in to charge, for a short while the electricity went off,and the battery died.

Whenever i re insert the charging cable in the charging dock, the white light (indicating that the laptop is charging)  lights up fir 3 to 4 seconds and goes blank,at the same time the laptop keyboard light which lights up when the system normally starts, blinks for a second and that is it,the laptop remains dead.

My laptop is under warranty, but the point is due to the covid lockdown , i cannot have it repaired, plus i am losing out on warranty period, my cellphone was already not working since a long time.

Due to all of this i am losing out on much of work plus surviving this corona lockdown has become unbearable.

Hope to get some adequate solution ASAP

Unplug the system from the adapter/dock and remove or disconnect the battery.  Connect the AC adapter directly to the system (not through the docking station).  Press F2 at powerup and verify that the system recognizes the AC adapter. If the adapter shows unknown, first try a new OEM Dell adapter.  If it too goes unrecognized, replace the DC jack in the system.

If neither of the above produces any effect, the mainboard is bad.

Since the system is under warranty, start by calling Dell support - though the process above is the likely one they'll follow (adapter, then jack -- finally mainboard).

You don't need to remove it.  Remove the base cover and simply pull the connector to disconnect it from the system board.
