Laptop won't charge
So my problem is my laptop won't charge at all. It only turns on when connected to the charger. Whenever I connect the charger the charging light on the laptop flashes red for a sec then turns solid white but if I unplug it, it shuts off instantly. I also haven't used my laptop since June. I had it sit flat on my shelf with the cord wrapped up next to it. This laptop was bought by my grandma a few years back so I think the warranty has definitely ended by now. When I hover over the battery symbol on my laptop it say 0% available (plugged in)

Sounds like a dead battery -- but before replacing it, go into Setup (F2 at powerup) and verify that the system shows the AC adapter and its power rating. If the adapter is showing "unknown", either the adapter or the DC jack is faulty -- and unless the system firmware senses the adapter, no battery will ever charge.
