Low GPU usage on VR games

I have the Dell G5 15 5500, with a 1660ti, and 10300h processor. I also have eight gigabytes of memory, dual channel memory. My laptop can run pretty much any other flatscreen game, but the second it comes to VR games like boneworks, or blade and sorcery, the GPU usage will randomly drop from normal (100 - 80 percent) all the way to 5 - 20 percent, giving me extremely low FPS. I have tried everything in Nvidia control panel, so if anyone trying to help me reads this, rule that out. I have redownloaded my drivers, but to no avail. Reinstalling the game has done nothing. I don't know what to do. Help is greatly appreciated.
