Max RAM supported on Inspiron 3542

am having Dell Inspiron 3542 with 0RK2KV motherboard, Intel i3-4005U CPU and 4GB of RAM and I wish to upgrade my RAM.

Now the Intel's website mentions the maximum RAM support to be 16GB DDR3L 1333/1600 or LPDDR3 1333/1600 whereas Dell's Community Moderator's reply to a post says

The maximum memory supported on Dell Inspiron 3542/3543 is 8GB DDR3L with clock speed of 1600 MHz.

So, what should I go for...8GB or 16GB? It's clear that I can go for DDR3L which is unanimously said by both but I'm bit confused about the max size supported. It's clear that I want to go for the best available performance but also do not want to waste the money if at all 16GB is not supported. Could anyone please help?

As Dell many times does custom implementation of the Intel chipset, what Intel publishes may not be applicable to a Dell.   Use the Dell published spec's as a guide.  If you want to try more than what Dell says, you are on your own, no guarantees.

Even I'm looking for same more than 8GB RAM for Inspiron 3543. I guess specs for 3542/3543 are most of them same. Currently u can upgrade to 8GB as of now or 2nd option is upgrade to SSD for better performance.

Reading those 4 responses above, I don't see a definite answer about going 16GB? Is it possible? Looking forward to hear a solid Yes or No.

I am currently using Dell Inspiron 3542 core i3 4th generation and wants to upgrade it to max that I can

For that I would like to ask about the max supported RAM with it and the Max supported ssd if I would like to replace it with the HDD.

Also want to know that ssd size is limited for the devices or we can use any size of ssd for our devices, does it should also have to be considered like ram to be supported by the device?
