Misc. Error boot up Dell
Goodnight everyone
I've posted about a bios problem and this is partially fixed. Now I've noticed that if i reboot my system for whatever reason it either boots into windows or boots into ePSA Pre-boot System Assessment. My service tag says 2 in ePSA. If windows boots up and i try to pull up my service tag trough the bios I'm getting with this command "wmic bios get serialnumber" I get 2????. Sometimes I also get an bios prompt that says "Enter System Password" with my service Tag shown. What I've seen is that the service tag on the bottom of my laptop doesn't start with "2" but an "J". I've never set a password on my system before and I'm a bit perplexed as to what happened to my system.
Is there a way to reset the System Password in the bios and restore the service tag of my laptop.

If you're seeing this issue intermittently, and you've had a BIOS flash failure before as you mentioned in the other thread, my suspicion is that you've got a BIOS ROM chip that's going bad.
Try clearing the CMOS (unplug, disconnect battery and hold the power button 30 sec). If that problem doesn't clear up, you're in for a replacement mainboard.
