JohnBish137,

It could be the touch screen cable may not have been connected back when you took it apart. You will need to verify that it is connected.

Supportassist Blue then black boot Dell inspiron 15 5000 series solved

new usb device lgd ait touch controller was installed

OK I've had this many times trying to solve this I found your question. I did solve it this same night.

What I did was press the power button to turn it off then again to turn it on. As soon as you see the Dell logo press F12 is going to give you some opcions use the keyboard to move, choose "supportassist OS recovery".

Then it will show a loading screen let it load. After it loads is going to give four options choose "Repair System" and let it load. (DON'T choose "restore system" unless you want to factory reset and delete everything permanently). Once its done is going to give you the "Restart" option in blue, click that let it load one last time and that's it you're ready to go.

I hope it helps many people.

There is no SupportAssist option in the F12 menu.

I'm aware that this a few years later, this is for anyone else who comes here from a search engine while attempting to troubleshoot. The option suggested in the second response above may not be visible in the boot menu. The below worked for me, the options may be different depending on your model.

You'll need to go into the BIOS settings using F12 when the Dell logo appears, select "Enter Setup" (or something like that), and then go into the "Advance" section and you'll find an option called "Support Assist System Resolution", select this option.

In the menu for changing this option there will likely be two things you can change.. the first is the threshold for whether this kicks in or not ("Auto OS Recovery Threshold"), and the second is whether it's enabled or not ("Support Assist OS Recovery"). You'll need to make sure it's enabled, and you may need to change the threshold option as well (I had to, a reboot didn't show anything different, I went back into the BIOS and changed the threshold to OFF).

Once you've done the above, then reboot and it will either automatically go into the repair (assuming it needs it) or give you the option at the boot menu.
