New laptop won't switch on

So I received my new dell inspiron 15 5000 today, plugged the charger into the wall and into the laptop and tried switching it on and nothing. I noticed the charging light at the side of the laptop lights up for about 1-3 seconds then turns off. The light on the power on the charger stays green so I know it's getting electricity. Am I being an **bleep** and have to let it charge before use or is there an issue? Bought it brand new from the dell website as well, any help would be much appreciated.

If you're comfortable opening computer, I'd suggest reseating components such as the bay battery and memory to see if it will make any difference. First, try removing battery, press 'Power On' button for 15 seconds, replace battery, ac adapter, power on system, hopefully computer starts normally. Please click on link below for manuals.
