Overheating in Dell G7
Hi, everyone.
I've been using a dell g7 for about 16 months. I've had a few heating issues in the past.. however, today.. I got a burning smell from my laptop. I immediately turned it off and cleaned the vents with a small brush.. got some dust out but not a lot. I didn't see a lot of dust. Does the dell g7 have heating problems in general? What is the solution to this? It happens especially when I play games like Doom (2016) and Rainbow Six Siege for a while. Is there a setting to increase the fan speed to solve this issue? Can someone from dell help me here?

I would start by removing the back and cleaning out the cooling system. Ensure the fan is working correctly.
No luck with that contact Support it could be that your CPU/GPU will need to be re-pasted.
I would download Hwinfo64 and run the sensors only this will show you exactly what your CPU and fan are doing also what your GPU is doing Loads, fan speeds, Temps this way you know exactly what is going on and will give you some idea what is causing the issue.

It would be best to also change the thermal paste. Mine was overheating too and by the time I realized what was happening, my board burnt out. This happened only 2 weeks after my warranty expired mid-February, and so I was offered no real assistance for that injustice. I still walk past my laptop and and feel a hole in my hear :(. Adrian
