Problem with Correcting to Home Network
Comcast just replaced my old router with a new one - an XV7 from the Arris Group. Prior to the replacement, I had a home network set up. After working with a private technician this evening, we found that the Bridge Mode was enabled. We disabled that and the home network now shows up on my phone, my work computer and my husband's computer now connect to the home network.
My laptop is an Inspiron 3558 running Windows 10

@CDDELLIPA When Bridge Mode is enabled, the router acts as a basic cable modem instead of a full router (which includes firewall and WiFi access point functionality). Bridge Mode is meant for scenarios where you want to use your own router to run your home network. In that case, the ISP equipment essentially just converts the cable connection to Ethernet for your own router to handle. There are many routers and even advanced software solutions like pfSense that offer far better performance and more advanced features than the equipment that ISPs provide. And since various problems can occur if you have two devices in your network that are both operating as full routers, Bridge Mode is provided as a way to use your own router without running into those problems.
But if you don’t have your own router that you want to use, then Bridge Mode should be disabled. In that case, your ISP equipment will act as a cable modem, router, firewall, and WiFi access point.

@CDDELLIPA What WiFi card is in your system? And what exactly do you mean when you say that it won’t connect? Does your system not even see the WiFi network at all, or do you see an error when you try to join it? If the latter, what’s the error? Have you tried updating your WiFi card drivers? If you reused a WiFi network name with this new router that you also had before, have you tried removing the network from your PC’s list of known WiFi networks to clear out any stored settings and then tried connecting again? As a general tip, the more specific you can be about the details of the exact behavior you’re seeing (or not seeing), as well as anything you’ve already tried to fix it, the more likely you’ll be useful guidance here. Problem reports of, “It’s not working” or “It won’t connect” don’t give people here who are willing to help anything to work with.

CDDELLIPA,
We can see from the private service tag that this is an Inspiron 3558 that shipped in August of 2016. This Inspiron 3558 running Windows 10 Home has the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 card installed.
* Press Windows key + X
* Click Device Manager
* Click View
* Expand Network adapters
* Does the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 show there without any colored ! or ? on it?
* Do any other devices show with any colored ! or ? on them?
To assist our users in troubleshooting, can you check the bottom or side of the new router for a label like this one? It should show the model number.
