SSD for inspiron 3520

Greetings, everyone.

Would a 2.5" SATA Internal SSD be compatible and work as main drive in my laptop? Inspiron 15 (3520)

It has an Intel Core i5-3210M 2.5GHz as processor. I'm not sure about the interface since only SATA1/SATA2 are mentioned on its storage specifications, and nowadays there are those SATA3 with better performance. Its original 1TB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive is what I want to replace.

I have found these ones http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Dell/inspiron-3520#ssdResults

You shouldn't have any issues replacing the HDD with an SSD.  Just remember that a SATA 3 will downgrade itself to the SATA 1 or 2 spec of your machine so you will not get top performance out of it, however it will be better then the HDD.

SSD always offers you a greater performance whether in SATA 1 or SATA2. you can replace HDD with SSD to gain a greater performance.

For anyone reading this and asking if it is Sata III: yes, it is. You will get full 6 GB/s bandwidth by upgrading your existing HDD for an SSD on the Inspiron 3520.

Don't know if the ODD Sata port is too, but the "main" one definitely is.
