Please type device manager onto search box, right click driver you're trying to update, select Properties, Driver and then check if driver(version) is correctly installed. You can also update drivers from device manager as well. If the message is a BIOS update then type msinfo32 onto the search box, stroll down to BIOS Version / Date, you should see the latest BIOS version on the computer. Lastly, you could manually install latest driver from your Dell Product Support page by entering service tag (or use Detect PC option) onto the link below. After, you should see all the drivers and firmware for the computer in your Dell Product Support page.
Please run Dell Preboot Diagnostic tool on the computer. The Dell utility will check the hardware within the computer.
You could do this by following steps below.
1. Power off system
2. Power on system, quickly start tapping F12 key continuously until you see Preparing One Time Boot Menu in right corner of screen. In Dell Preboot menu, select Diagnostic. Report back any error code.

Support told me to uninstall support assist and reinstall. I used revo uninstaller as suggested by them. I did that but Microsoft store still registers that it’s still installed. I click on it giving me the option to update it but tells me that I have the latest version. Bottom line it doesn’t let me proceed to open support assist. From the comments in the reviews by other users, I’m sure I’m not the only one experiencing this. I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the app itself. A lot of people are experiencing symptoms of a broken app. Look for yourself in Microsoft store.

Yes, even through Support Assist is a good Dell program, it does causes a lot of problems for some people and that is including myself. Support Assist will sometime give drivers /BIOS updates whereas drivers are already updated in device manager and the latest BIOS is already installed onto the system. When Support Assist is doing it's daily scan, it will slow down or freeze your computer. I usually will kill the Support Assist process down in Task Manager when it's scanning in the back ground.
You can update drivers in device manager or from Dell Product Support page. You can even temporary uninstall it for now and come back later (a few days, 1week) to reinstall. If you think your system is experiencing a hardware issue then run Dell eSPA Preboot Diagnostic tool on the computer. If the computer is functional well then I would suggest not worrying about installing any drivers or the Support Assist problems.
However, if you did want to fix Support Assist, post the same question in Support Assist Dell community forum in link below, hopefully the good knowledgeable people will be able to help you. Also, post your Dell model number and version of windows. They will need that information for them to be able to help you.
Well if its installed on my dell laptop or any laptop, it is expected to work regardless of the reason. It is crucial for any updates including drivers or software updates. Its central for the computer to communicate with dell. Without it, as Ive already noticed, my dell, is useless, slow, freezes randomly, or a combination. Maybe thats the easiest solution from dell because they’re unwilling to solve it completely or something. But I feel this is unacceptable. By doing “patchwork” here and there, dell thinks its fixing a problem by only making it worse or overly complicated.
